On May 15, 2011 at the 41st Commencement of the Penn State College of Medicine, Dr. Tonya S. Carter was conferred a Medical Degree after studying at the College of Medicine for the past four years. In addition to receiving her Medical Degree, Dr. Carter was recognized and presented with the Endocrine Society Medical Achievement Award for excellence in Endocrinology.

In pursuit of her highest goals, Dr. Carter has accepted a residency position with the University of Pennsylvania, (Pennsylvania Hospital) where she intends to pursue a four-year specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Carter and her family take this opportunity to thank God for His goodness and protection. They would also wish to thank the Government of Anguilla for their sponsorship of her studies. As well as express appreciation for the overwhelming prayers, love and support of friends, family and the community at large.
Dr. Carter’s dream is to return to Anguilla upon completion of her specialization to make her contribution to her community by delivering improved medical services to the people of Anguilla. She encourages all young persons to dream big and pursue their goals because the world has opportunities for all to take advantage of, even if one is a young girl from little Anguilla.
