SCHOOL FAIR MARCH 26-28 |
| Publishing date: 21.03.2003 10:25 |
This year’s Primary School Science and Technology Fair will be held at the Teachers’ Resource Centre from March 26-28. More than two hundred Grade 6 students from the public primary schools are developing the fifty-five projects that will be on display.
|
The purposes of the fair include teaching the students the steps of the science problem-solving process by working through a science or technology problem of their choice. Some of the projects are environmental studies, while others deal with life science and still others with physical science. A few projects have a technology focus to them. The students also learn to work as a group, develop their computer skills, practiSe good communication skills and have some fun.
The students are preparing displays of their scientific findings and will display their projects on Wednesday, March 26. They will have the opportunity to discuss their efforts with teachers and other adults from the community who will be judging the projects. All students will receive a certificate of participation. The top schools will receive trophies that have been donated by the local Information Technology Company Weblinks. In addition, the projects in which the best use was made of the computer will receive special awards.
The projects will be available for viewing on Thursday March 27 and Friday March 28 at the Teachers’ Resource Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Science and Technology Fair will conclude with a short Presentation Ceremony at the Stoney Ground Primary School Auditorium on Friday morning, March 28, at 9:30 a.m.
All students, parents, friends and members of the community are cordially invited to attend the display and the presentation ceremony.
