Both officials were on island to publicize the Open Campus. In doing this they met with the Government of Anguilla, the President of the Community College, Professor Delroy M. Louden PhD, and the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. Wilma Vanterpool. The discussions were geared towards finding out how the Open Campus could better serve the people of Anguilla. The discussions also sought to bring these bodies together to provide programmes that are in demand in Anguilla.
Discussions with the Government of Anguilla included ways of moving forward with respect to the training and development of human capital, and how the Open Campus could provide courses compatible with those plans.
Both UWI officials expressed a desire to expand the Open Sites not only in Anguilla, but across the region. They would like to expand them both qualitatively and quantitatively; qualitatively in terms of the level of technology available to its users: the internet, the Library and support services from advisors. They also are looking into the number of courses being offered, not just what is available, but to tailor courses to suit the needs of the host country. The Open Campus is going to be offering a range of courses beginning with certificate level courses and culminating with bachelor degree programmes in just about every discipline.
Both Dr. McDonald and Ms. Longsworth indicated that they will be submitting articles for publication in The Anguillan so as to provide more specifics on the plans for the Open Campus in Anguilla.
