Ivy left Anguilla at an early age and migrated to Curacao where she met and married Martin Ferreira. They then later moved with their family from Curacao to Martin’s home of Guyana before moving to Staten Island, New York where she later lost her husband. She moved to live under the loving care of her son Dr. Leonard Ferreira and his family in Titusville, Pennsylvania after the death of her husband.
A memorial service was held at the SDA Church in Titusville, Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 16 before she was returned to Staten Island, New York for a final service of celebration and interment by her husband’s side at the Silver Mount Cemetery on Friday, May 21, 2010.
Ivy’s life of unconditional love and service was highlighted at both services by many of the lives she touched during her life time, especially since moving to New York. She was considered to be the hospitality mother and prayer warrior of the SDA church which she attended in Staten Island.
She leaves to mourn 4 children, Daphne Changoo and Joan Lewis of Toronto, Canada, Clement Ferreira of Staten Island, New York and Dr. Leonard Ferreira of Titusville, Pennsylvania; 9 grand children; 2 great-grand children; 1 sister, Juliet Rogers Scoop of Curacao and many nieces and nephews including the children of late Clifford and Mary Rogers (Mary’s Bakery), the late Oliver Rogers, the late Ogese Rogers and Juliet Rogers Scoop. It was indeed a blessing have Ivy in our lives as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed.
