Social Life: Red Carpet Event For Don Duncan At 50

Professional Anguillian Chef, Lyndon Duncan, Principal of Frangipani Culinary Services, and one of the island’s popular hospitality figures, celebrated his 50th Birthday on Saturday, November 14, at his family’s residence at Seafeathers in an atmosphere of grandeur.

Well-supported by his wife, Deseree, and their two daughters, Chrystal and Brejae, who played the flute and the guitar respectively during the cocktails, and in the company of more than 250 guests, Don, as he is affectionately called, was at last at the receiving end of the high level of hospitality which he so readily demonstrates in his own service dealings with others. The theme of the birthday party was Friendship/Relationship, a fine combination in terms of the enduring friends and family companionships which he fostered and which have followed him over the years.

He was the recipient of much commendation from chairperson, Dr. M. Linda Banks, keynote speakers Dr. Cecil Richardson, Mr. Curtis Vanterpool, Mrs. Ilene Richardson and Mr. Quincy Gumbs and other persons from the floor. The informal Thank You was delivered by Mrs. Josephine Gumbs-Connor while the formal Thank You & Response was given by Don himself whose mini, but note-worthy, biography was presented by Mr. Mitchell Lake.

Don’s daughters were not the only musicians. Along with them was Elson Richardson on the keyboard during the cocktails; at the blessing of the dinner was his wife who sang a beautiful selection and the after dinner music was provided by Terrence Fleming and his group. Others who played key roles were the Valet Team headed by Mr. Neville Hamilton. The Waiter and Waitress Teams were headed by Mr. Lindon Williams. Notwithstanding that he was the host of the party, Don also headed the Frangipani Culinary Team which included Chefs Vernon Hughes and George Reid.

It was a red carpet event in honour of a well-respected personality who has made his mark on Anguillian society through his finger-licking cuisine and exemplary hospitality and catering services. Guests walked down the red-carpeted aisle to enter the main area of the event while camera and video equipment, operated by F & M Studio, captured images of the memorable occasion.
