Willie, who was 71, was born at Sandy Hill, Anguilla, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellis W. Fleming. He was one of seven children of that marriage including: Susan Looby, Sylvia Gumbs-Sherman, Cecille Fergus, Hansel, Kenneth and the well-known Vernon Fleming in Anguilla.

Willie, who received his early education at the Old East End School, like so many other prominent Anguillians, spent some years in St. Kitts where he served in the metal craft industry at the Basseterre Sugar Factory. It was in that island where he met and married Gloria Bagnal of Greenlands and later migrated to Canada where he continued his employment in the same field and lived a full and productive life. He was the father of three sons, but lost Richard who died after a few days of illness.

The Service of Thanksgiving was conducted by Canon Jerome Khelawan, the incumbent Priest at St. Hugh and St. Edmund Anglican Church, where Willie was a regular worshipper.

The Anguillian offers its condolences to all of his relatives in Anguilla and elsewhere.
