Amazing Youth Piano Performance At The Art Cafe

On Saturday, June 28, ten children gathered at the Art Café in Island Harbour to showcase their musical talents. If readers recall, the Art Café recently acquired an immaculate grand piano and since then there have been many concerts.

Under the direction and tutelage of Irina Kaufmann-Brooks, the ten young musicians performed beautifully for an audience of at least seventy people at 3:00 pm. The children were: Kyiv Edwards, Voss Harrigan, Chadd Hodge, Khori Hodge, Foug Kai, Ming Kai, Quing Kai, Myisha Letang, Ayesha Proctor and Micali Rey. They played various pieces from composers such as Mozart, Sheeman, Chern, Percel, Kabalevsky, Bach and Frank.

Jan Pavluk and Elizabeth Chronika graciously hosted the event and at the same time raised funds that will be later donated to the Island Harbour Primary School. There is also a fundraising drive currently underway to buy a piano for the school as well. After the children performed, Irina Kaufmann-Brooks gave a special performance for the audience that was completely mesmerizing.

All of the children performed extraordinarily well. Their ages ranged between 5 and 13 years and all showed a great deal of talent and potential. Irina is quite proud of her students and plans to continue working with them diligently.
