Community Teachers at Allwyn Allison School on World Teachers Day

On Wednesday October 5 many prominent persons in the community were invited to teach a lesson at the Alwyn Allison Primary School in celebration of World Teachers’ Day.

According to Principal of the school, Art Egel, the idea was to let members of the public know what it is like to be a teacher. He also said it exposed the needs of the school to persons who may be able to provide assistance.

Each “teacher” was allotted to a class and a subject and invited to teach for one hour. Persons invited included the Minister of Finance, Victor Banks, Opposition member Edison Baird, Acting Deputy Governor Stanley Reid, Chief Executive of Cable and Wireless, Sutcliffe Hodge, Executive Director of the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Director of Information and Broadcasting, Ken Hodge, and many others.

Asked afterwards about the experience, the visiting teachers said they enjoyed visiting the school and the teaching experience.
