Dr. Webster said in an email that education was an investment in the future and that persons were unable “to learn on an empty stomach.” He felt honoured to contribute to the school which assisted in his educational foundation.

“As a good corporate citizen, it is imperative to fill the void when Government cannot or will not,” he stated. “It is easy in these economic downturn times to tighten the belt and not give to worthy causes. However, the sacrifices made now will reap great rewards in the future.Today we have invested in the education of the students of the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School. Thank you for this opportunity.”

The Principal, Mrs. Hamilton, thanked Dr. Webster on behalf of the teachers and the students and their parents. She said work was in progress on renovating the kitchen; that the donation of the equipment was very timely and would go a long way in assisting the children.

Samuel Webster, another of Dr. Webster’s brothers, praised him for his contribution to the school. He believed that each school should have a cafeterial.

Education Officer for Pre and Primary School Education, Veda Harrigan, was pleased that the school was blessed at the beginning of the year with the much-needed equipment from one of its past pupils. She expressed gratitude, on behalf of the Ministry of Education, and thanked Dr. Webster for his kind contribution.

Deputy Principal, Joan Fleming, was pleasantly surprised about Dr. Webster’s quick response to the school’s request for assistance made to him just before Christmas. She joined her colleagues in offering thanks and appreciation and best wishes to him.
