Dear Sir:

WHO WILL COME TO ANGUILLA’S AID?

The horrific devastation in Japan has caused me to put pen to paper and, as a young Anguillian, I think it is even more important to do so as l look on what is currently happening on the island as it relates to politics.

Dear Sir:

DON’T TOUCH OUR SERVICE CHARGE

I am extremely disappointed and annoyed that, with all the mouthing of the Government about protecting workers and fighting against the “slave wages” we are being paid in the hospitality industry, our leaders want to dip their hands in our hard earned service charge. Nothing sounds so low and unconscionable to me.

Dear Mr. Editor:

ANGUILLA’S CONSTITUTIONAL FUTURE

I read with interest the feature article written by the well-read Rev. Dr. H. Clifton Niles in the March 4th edition of The Anguillian entitled “Anguilla’s Political Future.” My first observation is that he should have captioned his article “Anguilla’s Constitutional Future” since I believe that political future carries a connotation relating to politics and that constitutional advancement is therefore a different kind of status.

Dear Sir,

The Interim Stabilisation Levy (ISL) et al

Very rarely do I see it fit to opine publicly on matters of political or economic importance in Anguilla, for I do not claim any particular or superior knowledge or insight far above that of the political directorate and senior civil servants/policymakers of the Government of Anguilla. I am moved however, to render a few words of concern related to the proposed ISL and matters attendant thereto. I must begin by expressing my sympathy to the current government and any other government for that matter, of whatever political persuasion, given the current economic situation which we face. However, my sympathy, and dare I say empathy, does not blind me to the policy mistake which is the ISL in its current guise.

Dear Sir:

A SEMBLANCE OF CHRISTIAN FAITH NEEDS TO BE IN SCHOOLS

I agree with the Rt. Rev. Errol Brooks who said in an interview in last week’s Anguillian newspaper that while not indoctrinating students, there is a need for some semblance of Christian ethics and Christian faith in the schools.

WHO WILL SPEAK FOR ANGUILLA?

THE EDITOR

Dear Mr. Editor:

WHO WILL SPEAK FOR ANGUILLA?

The printed text of the address by CM Hughes in your publication on February 11, is not jut an insult to all people living in Anguilla but an insult to all people everywhere. And if as surmised – the invasion by “foreign elements” – was to be taken seriously, those same invaders should immediately cease operations, lay off their employees and leave Anguilla.

What the visitors think about Anguilla being featured on “The Bachelor”

Please allow me a spot to share a very interesting and pertinent discussion with your readers. I am not sure how many of us visit the “Trip Advisor” website therefore I pulled some of the discussion to share. These are actual postings from the site written by regular visitors to Anguilla, and I think that in the tourism business they are the ones that matter most.
