Attendance at a traditional campus will always be an option for prospective students. However, several universities now offer opportunities for students to pursue their education online. This mode of studying is ideal for individuals who work or have a family and other social commitments, and who wish to start or continue their education for the development of their skills and improve their opportunities for promotion.

Anguillian Surgeon, Dr. Ellis Lorenzo Webster and his wife, Dr. Marjorie Webster, have announced that their daughter, Rachel Webster, matriculated in August at the prestigious Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, USA.

On Friday August 27th, at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS) Campus B, the Community Relations Department of the Royal Anguilla Police Force and a number of community workers, hosted the fourth annual Youth Development Program. With the Minister of Education, the Hon. Edison Baird, as well as the Commissioner of Police, Rudolph Proctor, and the Principal of Campus B, Principal Ingrid Lake,in attendance, the chairman of the ceremony, Police Constable Wills, said, “The Youth Development Program was created in 2006 with the aim of prioritizing the major issues of crime, drugs and disorderly behavior especially those involving young people”.

With a prayer of thanksgiving, the Principal Mrs. Ingrid Lake, and faculty of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS) Campus A, welcomed third-year students from Campus B to Campus A at a general assembly held on the grounds of the school on September 6th.

It is generally accepted, particularly in countries with limited natural resources, that socio- economic growth relies on the development of the human resource. In order to do this, there must be many and varied opportunities and multiple pathways to cater to the varying learning styles, aspirations, achievement, abilities and talents of the population.

Congratulations are in order to the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Evans McNiel Rogers, and the Elected Representative for Island Harbour, the Hon. Othlyn Vanterpool, for their powerful presentations in the House of Assembly particularly during the debate on the Cap Juluca Memorandum of Understanding. They were articulate and passionate in putting the issues that concerned them and which should concern all of us very clearly in perspective.

Two Anguillian students, a sister and a brother, both in their early 20s, have graduated from separate institutions of higher learning in the United States.

In 2008, The University of the West Indies celebrated its 60th year of serving the region. That same year, the UWI also gave birth to the Open Campus which manifested the University's commitment to expand its range and reach to communities throughout the region.

On June 11th, 2010, Amalia Watty daughter of Bernice and Dorren (Glen) Watty of Rey Hill, graduated from Monroe College where she proudly walked the stage at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City. Amalia completed just one implausible milestone of her life by achieving Cum Laude (second highest honors) and receiving her Honors Bachelor of Business Arts Degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Marketing.

Miss Hazel Shermel Gumbs, an Anguillian student, who is excelling in the United States, has been lauded for her academic achievements which now include her enrollment in the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law.

The Community Relations Department of the Royal Anguilla Police Force, in partnership with the Education Department, has announced that the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) programme was concluded at Campus C, the Referral Unit of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.

Dr. Hazell Simmons McDonald PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of the West Indies Open Campus, and Ms. Luz Longsworth MA, MBA, Director of the University of the West Indies Open Campus Country Sites, visited Anguilla this week.

Ms Colleen Harrigan, the daughter of Florence and Colonel Harrigan of Long Ground, Anguilla, proudly walked across the stage of the Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York on Friday, 11 June 2010 in what she described as the most memorable day of her life. She graduated Summa cum Laude (With Highest Honours) obtaining her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Marketing.

Forty-seven sixth grade students graduated from the Orealia Kelly Primary School at Stoney Ground on Tuesday evening, this week, as part of a series of glamorous graduating ceremonies arranged at all of the public and private schools in Anguilla. The Class of 2010 was presented by the Principal, Mrs. Jasmine Hodge-Thomas.

Despite the inclement weather conditions, there was a crowded auditorium at the Morris Vanterpool Primary School on Friday, June 25, when 23 sixth grade students graduated after seven years of schooling.

The Special Needs Class at the Orealia Kelly Primary School, at Stoney Ground, was the recipient of a box of much-needed supplies from Sally Sewall, a US national from Maine, who interacts with teachers in Anguilla during her frequent visits.

On June 11th 2010, Kendisha Hall of North Side, Anguilla, walked across the famous Madison Square Garden Theatre stage in New York City for one of the most grand and memorable events of her life. She graduated Summa Cum Laude (with Highest Honours) and obtained a Bachelor of Business Arts in Hospitality Management with a Marketing Minor. Since her enrollment in Monroe College in September 2006, Ms. Hall has been a recipient of the Presidents List Award every semester.

Gudis Hodge, daughter of Gerald and Mariette Hodge, has graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, on June 7, 2010, following the completion of a double major in Biology and Chemistry.

Scotiabank Anguilla Ltd has presented one brand new laptop computer, a digital camera and a cheque for USD$500.00 as part of its continuing support for education of students on the island.

The presentation was made on Wednesday 23 June 2010 by the bank's Manager, Service and Support - Eugenia Thomas, Customer Support Officer – Eva McClean, and Teller – Shara Hodge to Mrs. Hazel Brooks, Principal of the St. Mary’s Pre School.
